AL Sweeping

A quick perusal of the 2004 and 2005 World series results show that the American League teams have beaten the National League representatives in eight straight games. The last time that the American League swept away their National League counterparts 8-0 in consecutive World Series was when the Yankees swept out the Cubs in '38 and the Reds in '39.

Previous to that it had only been done once before. The 1927-28 Yankees enjoyed this distinction against the severely overmatched Pirates and Cardinals ballclubs.

There have been nineteen four game sweeps in 101 World Series competitions.
