Molding the Youngster

So it looks like Gerry Hunsicker will be working to develop Andrew Friedman's skills as a top baseball executive. With the title of Senior Vice-President of Baseball Operations, Hunsicker falls underneath Friedman's position of Executive Vice-President of Baseball Operations. The article says that Hunsicker will work with Friedman to "guide and shape all areas of the club".

Hunsicker's entered into a front office situation that appears to most closely resemble the Jim Beattie/Mike Flanagan in structure. We'll have to see if new Devil Ray owner Stuart Sternberg views this relationship as a way to equip Friedman with the skills necessary to eventually perform the GM job by himself. Then Hunsicker could find himself taking the Jim Beattie road of career development within the organization
